Everybody liked seeing my Earth, so I figured I put up my other Big Sculpture project...I actually made this one a few months ago. I’m kind of hoping it sells before I move, because I don’t want to move it (and make sure it stays safe)

It’s 5 inches wide and 4 inches thick. It was this massive, interesting piece of wood I’ve had sitting around in the shop forever. Not sure exactly where I got it but I have a vague memory of seeing it in the dirt somewhere abandoned and picking it up..

Anyway, it was tricky to make because it’s so deep. Took quite a while and a lot of nail-biting. I did it on my CNC router but honestly it would probably have been faster to do by hand. :) After 3-5 hours of fiddling with the model so that there wouldn’t be any collisions with my 2” long cutting bit I carved. Could only use a .25” bit for it because I didn’t have anything else long enough.

After it was done carving (took a few days) I then spent more hours than I’d like to admit to with sandpaper finishing it.

Put two pockets in the bottom for holding things and did a quick little engraving on it too.

Nearly peed myself when I went to put the keyhole in the back for hanging and it slipped out of the vice! O.O Had to get a little creative and so I carved a small pocket in the back which is where I signed it. And put another keyhole in.

I’m really happy with it!

It smelled AMAZING while carving. Absolutely intoxicating.
